MerMay 2022

Image
As of 2022, I knew about MerMay and eagerly looked forward to @thadollylama 's prompts.  In fact, I went all out, with an underwater "downtown" set, seven of the main characters from my Supernatural doll stories, and even a complete parody of an episode of Supernatural. I believe the prompt illustrated below was Hooking Up.  Steffi Love reprised her MerMay 2021 role as Kiki the mermaid, Rufus Turbot's sometime love interest.  (Yes, in the spirit of MerMay, I gave all the Supernatural characters sea-related pun names.) Below:  I don't even know what the prompt was, but I got to make puns to my heart's content (below).  This post introduced the mermaid version of Bela Talbot, one of Supernatural's most interesting recurring characters.  I also made an undersea parody of the title card I use on Instagram to start all my story posts: Dean and Bela in formalwear (above) are a parody of a scene from Season 3, Episode 6 of Supernatural, titled Red Sky At Morning....

MerMay 2021

Image
I joined Instagram in 2020.  One of the first big Instagram events I joined was in the spring of 2021:  MerMay.  For several years, this month-long even was hosted by @thadollylama, who would publish a list of prompts, one for every other day of the month of May.  Below are the prompts I managed to do for MerMay 2021, starring Rufus Turner and a Steffi Love doll mermaid. My mermaid was this thrifted Steffi Love doll.  I dressed her in a homemade tail trimmed with iridescent white lace, and a shell bra lined in scraps of the same lace. I used my "Gates of Hell" diorama as the stone backdrop, and decorated it...

Season 1, Episode 1: A Long Way from Home

Bobby Singer made himself wait until he'd picked up dinner, checked into the motel, and cracked open a cold beer before he dialed the phone.  He couldn't stop himself from tensing as the phone rang.  What if she didn't pick up? Hours away from Bobby's room, Ellen Harvelle stoked the fire.  Summer was scarcely over, too early to need a fire, but it had seemed right to light one, with the others all away from the house.   She hefted the fire poker in her hand before she put it away, aware of its weight, the fact that it was made of iron.   A potential weapon, one of several within her reach, but the house felt safe in spite of its air of anticipation.   When the phone rang she hurried to pick it up. "Bobby.  Good to hear your voice.  I take it Caleb skipped town once he knew you were on to him?" He pushed aside the relief he felt, impatient with emotions he didn't want to face.  It made his tone sharp when he replied, "That's jus...
