Larson's Landing Motel

In the Season 2 episode "Born Under A Bad Sign," Sam finds himself covered in blood in an unfamiliar motel room with damask curtains and the blandest landscapes known to man.  I chose this room to be Benny Lafitte's room in the magical A-Frame.

Above, a behind-the-scenes view of the room set up in my disassembled A-Frame.  Each of my dioramas takes up a minimum of two (usually 3 or 4) rooms of The Barbie A-Frame Dreamhouse, so I take the majority of photos in the disassembled doll house.
The Larson's Landing Motel re-uses the large headboard seen many times on Supernatural.  In fact, Benny shares this headboard with Sam Winchester. The bedding is also reused frequently.  I originally made Benny's green chenille dotted bedspreads for a different motel room.
I made the mid-century modern wallpaper on my computer.  The damask drapes and matching lampshade are scrapbook paper.  To the right you can see the unfinished fishing-themed room divider, complete with mini bobbers.  Or from the dolls' perspective, oversized bobbers.

On the bedside table next to the lamp is a control box for the "Magic Fingers", beloved of Dean and any kid lucky enough to stay in a motel equipped with one in the seventies.

Below, screencaps from Supernatural show Sam with the original wallpaper print behind him.  In the second photo you can see the rainbow-hued ceramic lamp.  I made a  miniature lamp inspired by it out of paper.

Above, dolly!Dean attempts to enjoy the Magic Fingers next to the rolled and woven paper lamp.  Below, full-size Dean stands next to the room divider.  To create the blandest possible landscapes, I cut small parts of faded photographs out of a very old National Geographic magazine.

Above, another view of the room divider and a very cool hanging lamp I'm eager to recreate one of these days.  The diorama to-do list is endless.  Below, Benny and Ellen Harvelle entertain themselves behind the miniature fishing-themed room divider.

Above, a blindfolded dolly!Benny emerges from the ensuite bathroom to stand next to a dresser made from Dollar Tree storage boxes.  Mid-century modern-inspired artwork is framed with coffee stir sticks.  A miniature of Benny's Purgatory Blade is displayed on top of the dresser.  (Benny's blindfold/bandage is because of an injury he incurred during my doll story.  He's fully recovered now.)

Below, a screencap from the television show with the lighting blown up so the artwork in the corner is at least somewhat visible.  Because of the awesomely dark, moody lighting of the early seasons of Supernatural, I often have to use my computer to blow up the lighting to be able to see details in the motel rooms.
